monkeytax.com does not agree with the mistaken notion that government is the cure-all for all of our ills. We recognize the need to fund legitimate programs with tax dollars; however; we are greatly dismayed by the billions of dollars wasted on the pet projects of bureaucrats.
We believe the macroeconomic policies of this country often fail because they are run from a microeconomic perspective. When tax dollars are allotted for a project, consideration should be given to both the immediate and secondary consequen-ces of this action. In a desire to alleviate a present problem, government often fails to consider the long term result of its action. This leads to a spend and tax mentality, because every dollar spent by the government must be paid through an increase in taxes.
To better understand our economic system and how it relates to our tax structure, I recommend the book by Harry Hazlitt: Economics In One Lesson. You can find this book by clicking on the link to the right.
